Hall Councils

What is a Hall Council and who can be involved?
Each residence hall on campus will elect a Hall Council. The council is made up of a core group of elected officers. Members of the Hall Council are residents of the hall in which the Hall Council is established. Each council will minimally have the following:

  • President

  • Vice President

  • Treasurer/Secretary

  • Floor/Wing Reps (varies per building)

Hall Councils meet once a week at a time that the council as a whole will agree on. The councils are established to make decisions and to plan events that will promote better residence hall living. Possible events that a Hall Council will plan and participate in include:

  • Clothing drives

  • Canned food drives

  • Development of hall philanthropy

  • Hall Socials

  • Hall Birthday Bashes

  • Sponsoring Homecoming candidates

  • Building Homecoming floats

  • Sponsoring hall intramural teams

  • Tailgate Parties

  • Family Weekend Breakfasts and Cookouts

Why should YOU be involved in your Hall Council?
Being involved with your council will benefit you in many ways. Some of those ways include:

  • Leadership development

  • Event planning experience

  • Experience in working as a team

  • Advertising experience

  • Creative development

  • Community Involvement
