Programming Coordinator
Position Description

General Description
This University Housing staff member is responsible for the coordination of all leadership and student development programming within the residence halls in an effort to promote retention, satisfaction, and involvement opportunities.

Position open until filled.

Job Specifications/Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Student Services, Counseling or a Related Field required.
  • 2 - 3 years supervisory experience in a residence hall environment required.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with employees, students and general public.
  • A strong desire to work directly with college students.
  • Understanding of the relationship between classroom learning and out of classroom experiences.
  • Experience in a supervisory position in a residence hall.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Completion of a background investigation.
  • Should have a commitment to education, raising of social awareness, and celebrating diversity.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.


  • Duties and Responsibilities

    The Coordinator of Residential Education is responsible for implementing effective management practices in handling the day-to-day operations of the halls. Specific administrative duties include:

  • Plan/Implement comprehensive student programming initiatives for all students living in residence halls (n = 3900), coordinating efforts of building director staff and student staff.
  • Comprehensive training programs for RA and leadership programs for students.
  • Serve as liaison with University Leadership Offices, including Leadership programs and Volunteer Services.
  • Develop and market, Organize and present programming opportunities and programs on leadership development, student success.
  • Manage the budget related to programming and leadership endeavors.
  • Teach a minimum of one section of GSU 1210 each fall semester.
  • Assist in a variety of recruitment programs hosted by various departments within the university.
  • Present/Attend appropriate in-service programs and conferences for continued professional and personal growth.
  • Serve on a rotating on-call duty schedule, and on division/university-wide committees/task forces.
  • Formulate and distribute enrichment materials and brochures to residence halls.
  • Other duties, as needed.
