Position Description

General Description
A full-time position within the Department of University Housing that provides overall leadership and vision for the creation, administration, and evaluation of a comprehensive residential living/education program serving 3800+ students.

Position open until filled.

Job Specifications/Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Student Services, Counseling or a Related Field; terminal degree preferred.
  • 5+ years experience working of full-time Housing experience required, 7+ preferred.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with employees, students and general public.
  • Progressive supervisory experience in residential setting is required, supervising a large staff is preferred.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, crisis intervention, group dynamics, flexibility, and programming in a residence hall setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize material and prioritize.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Strong desire to work with college students in a residential setting.v
  • Completion of a background investigation.
  • Should have a commitment to education, raising of social awareness, and celebrating diversity.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.


Duties and Responsibilities

The Coordinator of Residential Education is responsible for implementing effective management practices in handling the day-to-day operations of the halls. Specific administrative duties include:
  • Create the vision, strategic direction and best practices for developing effective living/learning communities to support student success.
  • Build a cohesive, creative and effective staff.
  • Directly select, supervise, train and evaluate a large staff.
  • Participate in a number of collaborative partnerships with other campus departments.
  • Assist in planning, design and opening of newly constructed housing on campus.
  • Create/Oversee an annual operating budget.v
  • Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate all activities related to programming and assessment.v
  • Develop, plan, train and assist in regard to appropriate responses to emergency or crisis situations.
  • Represent the director in his/her absence, as needed.
  • Resolve customer issues as needed.
  • Oversee leadership development of staff.
  • Participate in teaching opportunities including GSU 2222 and GSU 1210 (RA and Freshman Orientation Classes)v
  • Perform other duties as needed.
