Residential Interest Groups (RIGs)
What is a RIG?
It is a resource for getting to know Georgia Southern University. It is a community of students living and learning together. It’s a connection to faculty, staff, and experienced upperclassmen.
The RIG program offers first-year students a unique opportunity. In addition to being housed with other first-year students who share your interests/discipline, you will be co-enrolled into core courses, including Georgia Southern’s First Year Experience course (FYE 1220). RIG students will live close enough so that they can form study groups and find other students who share their interest, but not so close as to limit their circle of friends.
Living in a RIG means:
- Living in Eagle Village, home of cook outs, intramural teams, video game tournaments and community leaders that are focused on the same areas of study as you
- Sharing courses with a small group of your neighbors, so you can borrow notes, meet for study sessions and actually know who sits next to you in class
- Living with people who share your interests, goals, and enthusiasm for Georgia Southern
- Connecting with faculty, which translates to a higher GPA and a better college experience
