Open Communities

While specialized housing for First Year students or upperclass students are important options for some of our students, others prefer to live in communities that allow for interactions between First Year students and those of other academic classifications. While these communities do not offer reserved classes or any of the other special elements of the Living/Learning Communities, they are staffed by resident advisors and building directors dedicated to helping residents create communities that will be both supportive of academic and personal growth and fun. In addition, some halls have themes that allow students with similar majors or interests to live together.

For the 2007-2008 academic year, the Communities open to all students will be housed in Brannen Hall, Kennedy Hall, Sanford Hall, and Olliff Hall.

Winburn Hall is also open to all students and is home to our Science, Engineering, Nursing, and Technology (SENT) theme. Students do not have to be in those majors to live in Winburn, but resources and programs, including specialized computer lab software, are provided to support these fields. To view more information about these halls, please use the links listed under the 'Halls' section on the menu to the right.
