University Housing also offers communities that are designed for the different needs of upperclass residents. These communities focus on major and career development, as well as other aspects of life beyond Georgia Southern.
Programs include speakers from the business and professional world talking about their fields as well as workshops and round-table discussion on preparing for further schooling.
For the 2010-2011 academic year the primary upperclass communities are in Centennial Place and University Villas with 2 and 4 bedroom apartment units. All units provide students with individual bedrooms with a full sized bed, semi-private bathroom, and a full kitchen and a washer & dryer in each unit. University Villas also has a number of 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom units where each student has their own bedroom and bathroom. In addition, students in these communities are on a 10 month contract that allows them access to their housing unit from August through May, including all breaks. Only students who matriculated at college (at Georgia Southern or elsewhere) in January 2010 or before are eligible to live in an upperclass community. New freshmen over the age of 21 are also eligible to live in these spaces.
